Gday everyone, I am from Australia and living in gopeng, perak. i am hoping to stay here for up to a year and as always travel with my fly gear. what i lack is local knowlege and it is prooving impossible to get here. i would love any info on fish species and feeding patterns so i can get some local patterns. can anyone help? Sam |

hi sam, perak, particularly around ipoh area has lotsa ex- tin mines, which houses many types of fish, and are nortorious for their peacock bass. look around for tg tualang, ayer kuning, batu gajah, and simpang pulai area. venture further down south to gopenag and kampar area as well. i believe these places are great for fly fishing.

dron, nice prawn bro...we exchange ya. hehehehe...i still feel the dumbell looks awkward. btw, my prawns tried, tested & graduated with higest degrees from Kakilai University. ask ah thong! bring natural flies. they're going back to nature recently. just an update, weather a bit gloomy today with some light showers. will keep u updated. kindly sms me as i've lost ur contact...dropped my HP into the pond while fighting GT. thanx

It's a great pleasure to have you on this topic.... If you have a GPS... then will make finding the spot easy... we can always sent you the coordinate of the location....
On Saturday... there are a lot of Fly Fishos meeting up at a pay pond call Kakilai at a place near a small town call Sungai Petani, where we goes for the Baramundi, Travaley, Cobia... if do have time... join us....

FFF Penang - Fy Fishing, Food and Fun Our celebrity guests are Pak Amin and Mrs. Amin, Tangyp,Ben Foo and Faiz.
Here's the schedule of Events on Saturday 20th of July 2008
7.30 am to 5.30pm : Fishing at Kakilai Pond, Sungai Petani
6.00 pm to 7.30pm : Seafood Dinner at Tanjung Dawai
9.00 pm till late : Fly tying session at Stallion Apartments (apt no. Tba later)
All are invited to join all or any one of the events.
