Gday everyone,
I am from Australia and living in gopeng, perak. i am hoping to stay here for up to a year and as always travel with my fly gear.
what i lack is local knowlege and it is prooving impossible to get here. i would love any info on fish species and feeding patterns so i can get some local patterns.
can anyone help?

hi sam,
perak, particularly around ipoh area has lotsa ex- tin mines, which houses many types of fish, and are nortorious for their peacock bass. look around for tg tualang, ayer kuning, batu gajah, and simpang pulai area. venture further down south to gopenag and kampar area as well. i believe these places are great for fly fishing.

It's a great pleasure to have you on this topic.... If you have a GPS... then will make finding the spot easy... we can always sent you the coordinate of the location....

On Saturday... there are a lot of Fly Fishos meeting up at a pay pond call Kakilai at a place near a small town call Sungai Petani, where we goes for the Baramundi, Travaley, Cobia... if do have time... join us....

Here's the schedule of Events on Saturday 20th of July 2008

7.30 am to 5.30pm : Fishing at Kakilai Pond, Sungai Petani

6.00 pm to 7.30pm : Seafood Dinner at Tanjung Dawai

9.00 pm till late : Fly tying session at Stallion Apartments (apt no. Tba later)
