Bro Andrew..
Dron not back yet, he must have good time fishing there at Mongolia.. At least i know he is safe, no 'akukenabom' over there.. Hahaha... So Bro Andrew did you go there? How was the trip bro..? Caught any big fish..?

No lah...I didn't go on the Mongolia trip with them. But seems they had to cut the trip short due to the extremely cold weather..the temp. falling below zero on some nights.
Only 1 taimen caught on fly unfortunately...but lots of lenok and grayling caught on fly. Dron apparently caught a 7pound lenok, so he's a very happy man now.
Anyway, will let the guys who went on the trip tell u about it lah.

Hello fellow FF......
I'm back.... so glad I'm back home...'ALIVE'.... after survived from the extremely cold weather.... our record was -1 degree Celsius... in the summer time of a country side in Mongolia....( I'm not equipped with any winter clothing at all.... the most only wind breaker...!!!)
Imagine.. 6 layer of cloths with 2 sleeping bags... merely manage to warm tru the nights..... GOD....!!! Malaysia is a HEAVEN..!!
Due to the unpredictable weather... we only manage to fish for 2 1/2 days only.. ummm... Out of 10 days.!! but we still manage to land some nice fishes during the short fishable window...
....the rest of the time..on the flights...waiting for 12 hours for transit.. on the bumpy country earth road, traveling from no man land to another no man land... hiding in the chilling camp, praying for good weather....cursing our self why we wanna come here to suffer....
If you ask me.... are you planning to go back to fly fish at Mongolia again....
my answer is : " YES..Definitely..!! " ini olang memang sudah gila...!!!
Brought home some good pictures... and also tested some flies.... The result:
The Craft fur candy caught us lot of big Lenoks
The Craft fur Sculpin caught me a 9 lbs Pike
The size 8 nymph caught me a 7 lbs Lenok
The size 10-12 nymph caught us lots og graylings..
My dry flies caught me some beautiful grayling...
Will show you guys the pattern that caught us fishes in Mongolia later.... |

Wah! So cold is it, did u check the weather report on the net before u go.. Nevermind at least it is a sucessful trip, didn't come home empty handed.. Bags full of experients!!!

Dry fly... successful hook up 4 graylings on the 1st day when the hatching of Dun in the late afternoon...
the similar fly in dun colour works perfectly...

Lenoks..... on the first day, where plenty were landed on a Chez nymph which similar to a larva pattern
