Dron, thanks for the encouragement. OK, here are a few flies (don't laugh) I tied over the weekend for my trip to Bedong. Unfortunately, mostly gone on Monday as walloped by the crazy siakap there... the minnow was quite popular.
Dragonfly (started to sink after a few casts, I think need to add some deer hair or something to help it float)

Two dry flies I made from mostly some cock feathers

My minnow (RIP)

Hi sibehsong.....
I admire your courage...Altor your flies looks funny, but I can understand where your design comes from... especially with so limited material in hand..... and you are so new...
But that should be the way ... something that is your creation and you are proud of.... I believe in future, you will be able to tie flies that will amaze a lot of people... cos I can see you have the passion in fly tying..... KEEP IT UP Bro....
My first fly that I tie year and a half ago... was also looks very funny... and I still remember.. all my flies that I tie for Maldives trip was rejected or fail... I end up strip them all and re tie again...
If you are planing to tie a dragon fly... you can always use dear hair, even using dear hair as the eyes too... I will tie one and show it to you.... |

Thanks guys.... yup, will keep on trying. Actually Dron I looked at many of your creations today, really WOW. I still have a long way to go, but materials not esy to find in Penang. I only have deer hair, marabou, some hackle, cock feathers, craft fur, some of those coloured streamers... I can't even find that foam you use for cockroach here. Maybe will try some art shops to see what they have.
Yup, got a tip from Nick also to cut the "hidung" away more from my minnow...or maybe use more epoxy to shape it.
I got an idea to make a roller with some fish scales dsign, maybe can use to roll some fish scales over the epoxy body before it dries up? Anyone tried this before?
Again many thanks to sifus here for guidance.

Sibehsong....
Deer hair... you can tie pellet fly... Craft fur... you can tie Craft Fur candy or Firetiger deceiver or clouser... Deer hair + Hackle + marabou... you can tie the dear hair muddler minnow.... Craft Fur + Hackle or Cock feather... you can tie your versions of Lefty deceiver... Mix and match... you will be able to create some new pattern which one day call as Sibehsong Flies....:)
I like the idea of using a roller to create fish scale..... I have been using that to roll up my jigs and lure last time... but never try on fly... it's a good idea... :) why not you develops it.. and teach us one day... |

OK OK sifu, I go and try and post here again. Maybe I think I will try to use silicone instead of epoxy, see whether can or not. Or maybe some othr types of glue.
End of the day if cannot work, I can still sniff the glue, then I can say I really get high making flies... hahahahahaha.
